Foundation

The Jackson Health Care Foundation, Inc. was formed in September 1983.  The JHCF is a non-profit organization and is independent of the City of Jackson and Sanford Jackson Medical Center. It provides an opportunity for people to support healthcare services and education in the Jackson area with their tax deductible donations and bequests.

Gifts given to Jackson Health Care Foundation may be restricted (earmarked for a specific purpose) or they may be unrestricted. Gifts, which are unrestricted, are preferred since such gifts allow the board to use them where the need is the greatest. All gifts, however, are encouraged and will be received with gratitude.

RECOGNITION
A living memorial tree, known as the Tree Of Life, was designed and constructed by Steve Wolf to recognize those who have given to the Jackson Health Care Foundation.

A gift of $500 to $5,000 will grow a new leaf on the walnut and brass tree. A gift of $5,000 or more will secure a boulder at the base the tree. These may be engraved with the donor's name, or the name of a loved one to provide a visual expression of the donor's loving tribute. The Tree Of Life is on permanent display in the lobby of Sanford Jackson Medical Center.

ENDOWMENTS
The Jackson Health Care Foundation currently manages two endowments of nearly $500,000. In addition, a perpetual fund of over $350,000 was established during the fund drive for the construction of the clinic at Sanford Jackson Medical Center. Together, these income sources generate over $45,000 annually.

The long range goal of the JHCF is to have a large enough asset base to generate enough funding for ongoing improvements at Sanford Jackson Medical Center and in meeting the healthcare needs of the Jackson area.

DISBURSEMENTS
Through the generosity of many donations and bequests, the Jackson Health Care Foundation has been able to give over $1 million towards projects and equipment at Sanford Jackson Medical Center. The construction of the Sanford Clinic Jackson at Sanford Jackson Medical Center in 1992 and the 1998-99 renovation project highlight the expenditures made by the JHCF. In addition, the Foundation provides funding to the Jackson Ambulance Service.
