• We form our relationships with those we serve out of a basic respect for others.
• Respect for people means listening to them thoroughly and hearing their point of view and perspective. 

E:  Everyone is Important

• Regardless of ability to express oneself or age or cultural background, every person has a right to the same respectful attention to their needs.
• Respect is demonstrated through compassionate relationships.

S:  Safety First

• Safety is part of our culture.
• Safety comes first for us as we try to eliminate the risks in caring for the sick.
• Attention to safety creates processional excellence.

P:  Privacy is Expected

• Our relationship with those we serve is a private one; and all the information generated from these encounters is treated as private information.

 E:  Educate and Inform

• Part of caring for the sick is to keep them and their loved ones informed about their conditions and their treatment.

C: Communication is Not Done Until Understanding is Reached

• Communication with those we serve and the rest of the medical team is our job to complete.
• We have not communicated until everyone understands.

T: Time is Valuable, Especially Yours

• Our time as caregivers is not more important than those we serve. The time that a patient and family spends in obtaining health care advice and treatment will be considered with respect.
• Be respectful of each other's time and devote time to developing relationships.
