Sun Safety Week June 1-7th

06/03/2010

Prevention.

The warmth of the sun on our skin may be a welcoming feeling, being in the sun also means taking a few extra precautions.

What you may not know about sun protection:

  • Sunscreen should be 15 SPF or more
  • You should wear sunscreen even on cloudy days
  • Sunscreen won't protect you all day, reapply often
  • Water and towel drying may remove sunscreen - always re-apply after you get out of the water and after you towel dry
  • The sun's rays are most intense from 10 AM - 4 PM, avoid the sun at these times if you can
  • Your eyes need protection too - wear sunglasses with 99-100% absorption
